Over the course of my career, Bushnell rangefinders have been recognized as the best in the golf industry, but there are many new brands, like Blue Tees Golf entering the golf rangefinder landscape.
We have been testing and reviewing numerous rangefinders and part of that process is comparing new brands like Blue Tees to the old reliable brands, like Bushnell.

Who Did The Testing And Comparison?

Managing Editor John VanDerLaan Sr. Testing The Blue Tees Series 4 Ultra
John Sr. is the Managing Editor here at golf advisor. He is a single digit handicap and plays golf at least three time a week. Here is what he said after comparing the Blue Tees Rangefinder With the Bushnell Tour V6:
"I use a Bushnell Tour V6 on the course everyday and I was excited to compare it to the new Blue Tees Series 4 Ultra. I enjoyed using the Series 4 Ultra rangefinder. It was fast, with a nice, clear display, but it was not quite as accurate as the Bushnell. I tested the accuracy from known distances and the Blue Tees rangefinder frequently would show different ranges when shot multiple times."

PGA Tour Professional John VanDerLaan Testing The Blue Tees Series 4 Ultra
John is a PGA Tour Professional and has a top 10 on the PGA Tour, with his 7th place finish at the 2023 Puerto Rico Open. Here is what he had to say after comparing the Blue Tees Rangefinder with the Bushnell Tour V6 Shift:
"I use a Bushnell rangefinder everyday, so I am very familiar with them and very comfortable with their accuracy. The rangefinder from Blue Tees golf performed okay, but as a touring professional, I need a rangefinder that I am confident in and that is accurate every time. I found some instances where the Blue Tees would return different readings to the same target."
Accuracy
We tested both rangefinders on flags with known yardages from 50 to 300 yards.
The Bushnell performed flawlessly, delivering the correct yardage 100% of the time.
The Blue Tees Series 4 Ultra was wrong about 20% of the time. It was usually within 2 yards, but not 100% correct. We also found that if we ranged a target multiple times with the Blue Tees, it would return different yardages each time.
At the end of the day, the Blue Tees was very close, but the Bushnell was accurate every time.
Speed
Most rangefinders that we test are very good at delivering a range very quickly, and both of these were very similar in speed. There was a slight difference in how quickly they locked on the flag. The Bushnell was slightly better in terms of how long it took to lock on the flag.
We also found that when we tried to range flags that were 300 yards or more away. The Bushnell rangefinder would find the flag more quickly and the Blue Tees would sometimes have trouble and would return the range of things behind the flag.
Build Quality
Both rangefinders seem to have a high quality build. They both feel great in your hand and inspire confidence that they are going to last.
Many golfers like the magnetic feature that sticks the rangefinder to the golf cart. I have found both rangefinders to have awesome magnets that stay connected to the golf cart even in bumpy and severe conditions.
I have been using the same Bushnell Tour V6 for more than 2 years, so I can vouch for its durability. I am not easy on my equipment and have dropped it many times, but it continues to perform perfectly.
The Blue Tees and The Bushnell feature a 2 year manufacturers warranty, so we can deduce that the companies are confident that their products are going to continue to perform for at least that long.
Optics And Digital Readout
The Blue Tees and the Bushnell rangefinder have 6x magnification, which is great, but we did notice a big difference in the digital readout. The Bushnell utilizes much smaller and cleaner lines, while the Blue Tees utilizes thicker lines that take up a lot of the viewing area.
This is just personal preference, but we both preferred the Bushnell.
Slope Mode
We tested the slope mode on both rangefinders and found both to be very similar. They both have an easily accessible slope switch to turn slope mode on and off. We did notice that we would still get different readings from the Blue Tees rangefinder when ranging the same target multiple times. It would always be within a couple of yards, but never the same.
The Bushnell rangefinder would return the same yardage every time.
Value
There is a pretty big price difference between the Bushnell rangefinder and the Blue Tees. The Bushnell Tour V6 Shift retails for $399 and the Blue Tees Series 4 Ultra retails for $299. That is a significant difference, and for the casual golfer, or high handicap golfers, the better value may be the rangefinder from Blue Tees Golf, even though it is slightly less accurate.
For the low handicap player and golf professionals, the Bushnell is the better value because you can be confident in getting the exact yardage to your target every time.
Alternatives To The Blue Tees and Bushnell

- Mileseey GenePro G1 Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder
- Mileseey Ionme2 Rangefinder
- Vistaget Golvia Pro Rangefinder
- Eagle Eye Rangefinder
- Bushnell Pro X3+
Final Verdict
It all comes down to how important perfect accuracy is to you as a golfer. If a rangefinder giving you a yardage that is two yards off will be less than desirable, then you need to buy the Bushnell rangefinder, but if a couple of yards doesn't matter to you then the Blue Tees Series 4 will suffice.
For us, as a single digit handicap and a PGA Tour Player, we are going to stick with the Bushnell.
